The workshop is a professional metalworking and woodworking studio, were Vermont Handworks classes take place. It’s a quirky space full of objects and tools discovered in various buildings around the farm.

The woodworking studio is outfitted with chairmaker’s workbenches, which are equipped with holdfasts and leg vises. These small, weighted workbenches are ideal for carving Windsor chair seats and assembling chairs. Each bench is paired with a shave horse, a quintessential green woodworking tool used to clamp material so it can be shaped with the drawknife and spokeshave. Aside from a lathe, bandsaw, and drill press, this is a hand tool workspace with a mix of quality vintage and modern tools for each student.

The metalworking studio can accommodate 5 students. Each space is equipped with a bench pin and, and each student is given a tool kit full all the tools needed for each class. A rolling mill, drill press, kiln and sandblaster are available for use in some workshops. A soldering station equipped with ventilation is the central part of many workshops.
